I began my art career as an acrylic painter, with highly representational work, focusing on architectural detail and realism in my subjects. I still enjoy these projects, but more recently I have ventured in to mixed media collage which allows me a freedom of design to incorporate textural layers of papers, natural elements and freehand images toward a final cohesive art piece.  I am significantly inspired by nature, especially the north woods of Minnesota, but I am also drawn to unique perspectives on every day life with a nod to familiar places or activities.  The creative process in my collage is ever evolving as I try new techniques and include new elements.
